Groundbreaking

We officially broke ground on the Center of Hope yesterday, December 10th.  It was a wonderful ceremony attended by Hill Country staff and board members, members of the community, and many very important people to the Center of Hope. Our CEO, Lynn Dorroh, was the Master of Ceremonies for the groundbreaking and she acknowledged all of the people who brought the dream of the Center of Hope to life. 

Special thanks to the folks in the photo at the top of the page that dug their golden shovels into the ground to start this project: Larry, our Board President; Nick, our CFO; Howard from Slater & Son; Todd from Trilogy Architecture; Shannon from The McConnell Foundation; Wendi from Partnership HealthPlan of California; Lynn, our CEO; Susie, our Medical Director; Donnell from the Shasta County Health & Human Services Agency; and Christian, a participant in our transitional age youth HOST program.

The highlight of the ceremony was took place after the speeches were done and the dirt was turned.   The video above is a portion of a spontaneous rendition of "Lean on Me" by members of Hill Country after yesterday's ceremony.  This is what it means to be "Hill Country".
