Made of Steel

The Center of Hope is being built with posts and beams made of steel.  With the foundation cement dry and ready, our contractor started erecting the steel this week.  In six weeks the frame of the building will be complete.

As you can see in the above photo, the steel is a rust brown color and is bolted to the foundation.

Metal studs are used to frame the walls.  The studs have precut openings in them for the utilities to run through the walls.

You're probably asking, "how do they know where to put the walls?"  After reviewing the layout and measurements on the plans, they mark the foundation with an outline of the location of the walls.  You can see what that looks like in the photo above.

Despite the coronavirus, work continues on the Center of Hope Construction.  A year from now we should be moved in and seeing patients in a beautiful new building.  There is still much to do but the progress will be much easier to see for a while.  Feel free to drive by the site to see the building go up, or, if you are sheltering in place, keep following this blog and I'll keep the photos updated.  Thanks for reading!
