Metal Skeleton

The skeletal frame of the Center of Hope continues to grow.  The contractor has framed as much of the first floor as can be done for now.  Most of the Medical wing has been framed in at this point.

This photo is looking down a Medical wing hallway.  Exam rooms are to the left and the Medical Lab is to the right.

This is the view looking towards the other Medical hallway.  Now the Medical Lab is on the left behind Medical Storage and another row of exam rooms are on the right. To the right, out of view in this photo, is where the Staff Room will be located.

Here's a view of the Dental exam rooms.  There are no walls framed in this area yet because they need to pour the concrete for the second floor before they can frame.  The metal roofing you see above is called the "decking".  They will pour concrete on top of the decking 3-5" deep for the second floor surface.  Because the concrete is so heavy, it causes the metal to settle just enough that it would warp metal framing below the decking.  This minor warping would cause the frame to be less than square which is something we don't want to happen.  So, if we wait to frame the first floor after the concrete is poured on the second floor, we can then built the frame to fit and stay square.

The decking is constructed with large metal panels and is welded onto the steel beams.  The crew installing the decking is with A V Decking, Inc. from Arizona.  They are very safety conscious.  Their workers wear their safety harnesses and hard hats as well as brightly colored shirts so they are easy to spot.

Not only are they framing the inside but they have started enclosing the exterior.  This is one of several layers to the outside of the building.  This wall is along the Medical wing.

Once the decking is completed and the concrete poured, they can finish framing the first floor.

A big Thank You to the crew from A V Decking!
