This Week's Update

The wall studs are going up quickly with so many construction workers on site.  At any given time there are 30-40 workers installing metal studs, welding or doing other tasks to frame each room in the Center of Hope.  The structure changes appearance everyday as it morphs into a beautiful building.

This building truly is beautiful.  At this stage of construction, there are so many lines and curves that the structure flows from one area to the next.  The architectural design was brilliantly done by Redding based Trilogy Architecture.

As you enter the lobby you will first encounter the check-in window for our dental department.

Looking back from Dental in the direction of the main entrance, you will be able to see into the Courtyard through a wall of windows on your right.

From the Courtyard you can see an open walkway around the second floor of the building.  This area is accessible by the elevator or an enclosed stairway.  In this photo you are looking up toward the two large rooms designated for arts & crafts and other group uses.

At this point in construction, the building is being encased in a yellow board identified as DensGlass, a drywall material with fiberglass coating.  This is just the first layer of the exterior of the building.

Early work is being done on the exterior of the building and landscape.  The roofing material has been delivered and crews are transferring that to the metal deck on top of the first floor.  Contractors will start installing the roof next week.

Soil has been brought in for the bio-swale where drainage for rain water will occur.  Ideally, rain water will percolate back into the aquifer if it has the ability to slowly drain in a natural environment.  That is preferable to going down a storm drain.
