An Efficient Building
The Center of Hope exterior has really come together and the size and shape of the structure is readily apparent. One of the first thing you notice is the window cut outs. This building has a lot of large window openings that will provide natural lighting to the offices and patient rooms.
The entrance to the building is taking shape. The space has been used for temporary storage of a variety of items throughout the construction process since there are many ways to get into the building at this point. In a few months this entrance will look much more impressive, as a main entrance to a building should.
There are stacks of drywall all around the first floor. The contractor is in the process of installing drywall in the rooms. Just one side of each wall for now so that insulation can be installed.
All of the walls are insulated. This helps dampen the noise between rooms and also helps keep the room temperature consistent. Very important for energy efficiency!
Even the duct work for the HVAC system is insulated. This improves energy efficiency by helping to maintain a consistent temperature as air flows through the ducts.
The underground utilities for the housing unit have been completed. Next, the foundation will be poured then framing the walls can begin.
The grading has begun on the exterior of the building. The curbs that delineate the parking lot will be framed and poured soon.
The second floor walkway, headed towards the Administration offices from the elevator. Behavioral Health offices are on your right. So many lines and curves...
While walking through the building, I occasionally find myself stopping and admiring the architectural details of the structure. Like a spring flower, its beauty is only visible for a short time. The steel will soon be covered by a new layer that will morph into a something even more stunning.
To be continued...
