Following the Plans

It's been a busy week around the Center of Hope construction site.  Crews are working inside and outside the building.  Many of the crews are following the plans specific to their trade.

Here are the plans for the cabinet maker.  They are installing cabinets throughout the clinic this month.

Here is one of the cabinets in a Dental Exam Room.  The sink is on the right.  To the left of that is the opening for the trash receptacle.

The crew installing the drywall has made great progress.  The 1st and 2nd floors have all of the drywall up and the crew is working to mud the seams and smooth any imperfections.

Having all of the walls up with window and door frames in place makes seeing the size and shape of the room much easier.  This room is a meeting space on the 2nd floor adjacent to Behavioral Health offices.

An important delivery arrived this week.  It was shipped in several crates (this photo shows just part of the shipment).  What's in the crates you ask?  Here's a hint...

The contents of the crates will go into this shaft.

So, if you guessed it was an elevator in the crates, you were right!

I didn't realize that elevators were shipped in pieces.  I was expecting a big crane to offload the elevator from a flatbed trailer then place it into the shaft from up high.  That would have been far more exciting, and would have made for a better photo, than crates filled with parts.

Now here is something exciting - the crew has started painting the exterior of the building!  This is the Medical wing, back by the Procedure Rooms.  On the left, behind the scaffolding, are the freshly painted walls of the clinic.  To the right you can see the gray color of the top coat of the exterior surface.  As weather permits, the crew will continue painting the outside walls, going counter-clockwise around the building.

Speaking of scaffolding, there is still quite a bit of it up around the Housing unit as the crew finishes getting the walls ready for the stucco.

I like to keep our Medical Assistants updated on their future workspace.  Here's another photo of a MA Station with the countertop newly installed.  Skylights and fancy counters, only the best for the best bunch of Medical Assistants in the business!

We had a group of VIPs touring the construction site this week.  These masked heroes are members of the Hill Country Accounting team.  Their hard work pays the bills that allows this amazing structure to be built.

A Big Thank You to the Accounting team - Cedric, Angie, Sruthi, Nick and Susan.
Missing from this photo is Sharon and we're all hoping and wishing she gets well soon.
We miss you, Sharon!
